OpenAthens Replaces Proxy Server for Library Remote Access effective Nov. 29

Effective November 29, 2021, remote access to MCW Libraries' electronic resources will no longer be available through our proxy server.

MCW Libraries has transitioned from our proxy server to OpenAthens as its method of authentication. Links on the library webpages have been updated. If you were accustomed to using the Libraries' proxy bookmarklet, it will also cease functioning as of November 29.

• MCW employee or student: You will use your MCW username and password as your credentials.


• Other authorized user (i.e. Froedtert, Children's Wisconsin, Volunteer Clinical Faculty, etc.): You will use your OpenAthens account credentials. If you do not currently have an OpenAthens account, you may register for one here.

If you find OpenAthens logins on your favorite journal or database websites, you may log in using the same credentials as noted above.
